Choosing Quilting Designs on Fresh Quilting!

I'm back from QuiltCon! I had a great time, and even met Sarah from Confessions of a Fabric Addict, whom I've known for years online. She is wonderful! Quilters are wonderful! I connected with a lot of kind and energetic folks and saw so many interesting quilts and shared a thousand hugs. It was very rewarding, and last night I found myself sketching quilts I'd like to make. I haven't done that for over a year; what a great feeling!

Today I'm happy to share my segment on the brand new show, Fresh Quilting. They asked me to talk about choosing quilting designs and I think the episode turned out great. And I'm blushing that they made me the very first segment of the very first show! It's like I launched the series! Where's the bottle of champagne to smash against...my computer? Never mind. No smashing. We'll drink it instead.

This show is airing on PBS in several locations, and over the next few months it will get filtered into the lineup in other areas as well, so take a look at your local listings! If it's not in your area yet you can see a new episode each week at freshquilting.com. Or search Fresh Quilting on YouTube to find the segments they've posted! I've got another one coming up and I can't wait to share that one too!

To everyone who said hi or shared a moment at QuiltCon, thank you for filling my cup, it was exactly what I needed to feel back in my quilter-shoes.

great video. I tend to rush in and start quilting, and then rip out bad designs. much smarter to practice on paper first.

WOW! What a great video. I don't believe you were nervous at all, and the tips and techniques you shared are fabulous. I am going to share this to my friends on my blog, and will be using them myself as I become more comfortable with FMQ. I know I need to just DO IT! Thank you for encouraging us scaredy cats. ~smile~

Congratulations on kicking off the new series! You always inspire me. (On the plane on the way to QuiltCon, the person sitting next to me was reading one of your books and looking forward to taking your workshop.) Being surrounded by so much positive energy is my favorite part of QuiltCon!

Thanks for the great tips on the video! Very helpful and inspiring! Love how you emphasize what the quilts are "saying"! Great thought!

Loved your mini class Choosing Quilting Designs on Fresh Quilting!. It was very helpful to me. What was especially helpful was how you emphasized how to draw attention to specific details on your quilt.

Well looks like that comment went into the ether, so I will try again. This has so many ideas for both longtime and new quilters! Yay that you are the headliner for the new show. Thank you for the reminder to look to fabrics for inspiration for quilting motifs; I got one from the cover of a book I recently read! So happy to hear your voice, see you in action rather than just read your words on your blog, or in your book ;-) and look at photos. :-)
