Wow
If you're just arriving, the giveaway and quilt along announcement are here.
I want to say a thank you to all my new followers, quilters who have dropped by and shared their excitement and questions about free motion quilting. Thank you especially for spreading the news on your blogs! I did not know the idea would generate this much excitement, and so quickly! How wonderful.
I am getting ready to give a little free motion quilting demo at the Portland Modern Quilt Guild meeting this Thursday. The first quilt along post will come after that, most likely this weekend. I'll share the details of the quilt top and the supplies you'll need. Many of you let me know you are brand new to free motion quilting. I promise that when we start free motioning together, we will start simple. This free motion quilt along should not be a big time commitment. I will probably post one quilting activity per week. Since I have about 45 minutes per week for sewing, I anticipate the quilt along will request about 30-45 minutes or so of your time.
I'll just leave you with a picture of the hexagons I stitched for the PMQG hexagon swap. I basted through the paper this time, just to try it. And I used true 1" templates. Can't wait to see who goes home with these!

I'm looking forward to getting started! I have put your button on my blog too.
We are all looking forward to starting FMQ with you.
Oh, yes! I am like a kid waiting for Christmas knowing I have a new toy that has a learning curve. So ready to start learning.
I'm looking forward to this FMQ Quilt-Along. And, I'm sure it will be fun. I also appreciate that you are planning exercises that are ~30-45 minutes each week. Very do-able. Thanks!

Firstly, sorry Christina, I spelt your name wrong in my last comment!
I am really looking forward to the quilt along, you have really helped ease my fear of free motion.
I can't wait to start.

I can't wait to get started and agree with SewCalGal that the time allowed for lesson will work for most of us.
Saw this posted on SewCalGal's blog and have to say what a wonderful idea! I've been quilting for years now, but find that FMQ still has its mysteries and am looking forward to what you have to share. Thanks so much for your generosity!

Love the stitching, can't wait to see the tutorials.
I have been busy this week, getting my sewing room cleaned out and organized.

This is going to be fun, can't wait.
Just heard about the quilt along on the North Hill Quilter blog. What a great idea!! I've been FMQing for several years, but am constantly learning and improving. I think lots of quilters are frightened to 'try' in case it goes wrong - hopefully you will give them the courage to give it a go! Look forward to seeing what you get us trying :)
Amazing! I want to learn more than free-motion stippling and what a perfect way! What a geat idea to make a quick quilt to practice on! Thank you for the taking the time to show us and a super huge thank you for your give away!
I have already pointed to your blog through a translator and I understand what you write .... thanks ..
Good plan - the time commitment was what made me think twice because I work full time and usually only get into my sewing room on the weekends. I think we are all excited. Cute rhyme/song Dolly!

This was such a great idea :o) I really look forward to learn a lot, Im one of the brand new!
Thank you for the opportunity to learn.
Already I have put it in the blog.

Thank
I'm barely done being wet behind the ears? Does that about cover it? I've quilted two quilts with freemotion quilting. The first was a crib size where I used echos, rays, and a flowers that turned out ugly (from my point of view - others liked them) and then a 72x72 that was loops and stars.
I'd like to work on shape forming while keeping up speed and stitch length.
I'm in and I'm now a follower. I have to check around and see what I have to practice with.
The excitement your quilt-along is generating is enormous - boy is there a need for it! I can't afford to take a class....unfortunately....and learning fmq is very high on my list. I'm eternally grateful that you're doing this!
Looking forward to the quilt along! Will probably join in late though due to a trip the family is taking next week.
Thank you for taking it nice and slow as I think I have less time to quilt per week than you...probably 44 minutes!

Hi Christina - thanks again for last night's demo at PMQG! I am inspired to try some new approaches to free motion quilting. The meander isn't working for my skill level, but now I see there are many other options.
Hi Christina!!

Hooolitas... Hi Cristina, I'm Daphne and my English is not very good, I live in Colombia, but by Dory, I heard about your idea and did not want to stay outside, so here I am willing to learn from scratch, because I know nothing of free mulch, but fabric, thread and needle are my passions ...
A hug and tell you right now I run a blog for my friends who decide to participate
I hope everything is well written because I use google translator + Ü +
..........................................

What is the cute looking fabric on the top of the hex pile? It looks like wee gold fish, am I correct? Sorry if I'm way off base.
