Put a bird on it

Everyone I know is frothing at the mouth about tonight's premiere of Portlandia on IFC. If you haven't already watched this teaser I can recommend it highly.

Now, I don't buy for one minute that birds are a Portland thing. I think birds are popular throughout the DIY crafty community and here in Portland we have a really strong craft culture, so you just see a lot of them! I thought I'd dedicate this post to the local artists who are putting a bird on it, by showing all most of the bird art in my house.

Keep the birds coming artists; I will buy them!

You might have to make the bird quilt (or your spin on it) in Material Obesessions. It's on my list.

Yes, birds are an everywhere thing. They often show up as surprises (even to me) in my paintings.

When I first started loving birds I was a teenager (that was a really long time ago). I did a lot of things with birds. It's true that just about everyone has put birds on just about everything!
I watched Portlandia last night and while it was sort of funny, I didn't think it was as funny as I thought it was going to be.
OH, by the way, Christina, the PMQG meeting was fabulous! you and the crew did a GREAT job!

I watched Portlandia and thought it was really funny...especially the line, "it's where young people go to retire." I didn't get the bird ref. in the show but an interesting coincidence that you have so much bird art eh?
